Ethyl 1-piperidineglyoxylate is a reagent that has been used for the reductive cleavage of esters. It is a colorless liquid with a boiling point of 220°C, and it is soluble in water. Ethyl 1-piperidineglyoxylate has been shown to be sensitive to stannic, hydrochloric acid, and reductive conditions. This chemical has an average particle size of 1.2 microns and it has chlorine impurities which can be removed by distillation or filtration. It is stable in an anhydrous environment and also at a pH range of 5-9.
