Description

Euscaphic acid is a natural product that has been shown to have hypoglycemic effects on mice. It is a novel bioactive compound that belongs to the class of phenolic acids. Euscaphic acid has been identified in an acetate extract of eucalyptus leaves using an analytical method developed by the authors. The anti-tumor effect of euscaphic acid was observed in mouse tumor cells and liver cells. The pharmacokinetic properties of this compound are not known, but it is likely to be absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and distributed into other tissues after metabolism.
