It is able to bind to the alpha subunit of human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) receptors, inhibiting the growth of cancer cells. 3NPPB has been shown to be effective in animal models for HCC and other cancers. 3NPPB is a metal chelator with a high binding affinity for copper, and it has been shown to reduce the level of copper in liver tissue.
