• Description: N-(6-Ethoxy-1,3-benzothiazol-2-yl)acetamide is an antiproliferative agent that belongs to the class of 1,3-benzothiazole derivatives. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of a number of cancer cell lines in vitro. The apoptotic effect on MCF-7 cells was observed using a mitochondrial membrane potential assay and significant cytotoxicity was observed with concentrations as low as 10 μM. N-(6-Ethoxy-1,3-benzothiazol-2-yl)acetamide also inhibits the expression of Cox 2, which may be responsible for its antiinflammatory properties. This drug has been shown to have a pharmacokinetic profile similar to other anthracycline drugs such as epidermal growth factor (EGF) and growth factor.
