2-Diethoxyphosphorylethanamine oxalic acid is a prodrug that can be hydrolyzed to its active form, 2-diethoxyphosphorylethanolamine, which inhibits tumor growth by inhibiting the enzyme dehydrogenase. This drug has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in some animal models of cancer. It also inhibits the production of inflammatory mediators and may be used as an anti-inflammatory drug. 2-Diethoxyphosphorylethanamine oxalic acid has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in some animal models of cancer. The compound is currently being evaluated for use in treating human cancers, including colon cancer and prostate cancer, as well as for use in treating viral infections such as hepatitis B virus and herpes simplex virus type 1.
