Description :Istaroxime is a drug that acts as an inhibitor of the ryanodine receptor. It has been shown to reduce chronic oral toxicity and improve cardiac function in rats with congestive heart failure. Istaroxime also inhibits cardiomyocyte contraction, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the release of intracellular calcium ions from the sarcoplasmic reticulum. This drug has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and is used in veterinary medicine for the treatment of canine and feline heartworm disease. Istaroxime is also used as a pharmacological agent for the treatment of congestive heart failure and hypertension.
