Ethyl 3,5-dibromo-4-methylbenzoate is an organic compound that has the chemical formula C8H7BrO2. It is a colorless solid that is soluble in alcohols, acetone, and ether. The optimum concentration of ethyl 3,5-dibromo-4-methylbenzoate in vitro is 0.05 mg/mL. This compound has been shown to inhibit the production of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 and to increase tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα) production in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC). This may be due to its ability to react with DNA and form adducts with guanine bases.
