Description :Octyl a-L-rhamnopyranoside is a custom-synthesized, fluorinated, methylated, monosaccharide with saccharide and polysaccharide modifications. It is used for the modification of glycoproteins in the synthesis of complex carbohydrates and as an intermediate in the preparation of monosaccharides and their derivatives. Octyl a-L-rhamnopyranoside is synthesized by condensing 1,2:3,4-di-O-isopropylidene D-mannitol with 5-(bromomethyl)benzene sulfonyl chloride to give 5-(Bromomethyl)benzene sulfonic acid.
