m-dPEG®15-OH is a carbohydrate that is conjugated with a primary amino acid. m-dPEG®15-OH has been found to be reactive in the presence of chloride, which may be due to its pyridinium moiety. The safety profile of m-dPEG®15-OH has not been determined. When used as a pharmaceutical preparation, m-dPEG®15-OH may be administered as an ethyl ester or p-hydroxybenzoic acid salt. It is also frequently used in polymer synthesis, where it acts as a crosslinker and functional group.
