Description

1-(Biphenyl-4-yloxymethyl)-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester is a biphenyl compound with an inhibitory effect on cancer cells. It inhibits the growth of cancer cells by interfering with the production of proteins in the cell. The inhibition of protein synthesis and metabolism leads to cell death. 1-(Biphenyl-4-yloxymethyl)-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester also has anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. This agent has been shown to have an antiviral effect against herpes simplex virus type 1. In addition, it has pesticidal properties and can be used as a herbicide or insecticide.
