• Description: PHA 408 is a natural compound that has inhibitory properties against chronic exposure of the bowel to inflammatory substances. It was shown to have a significant effect in animal models for autoimmune diseases, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. PHA 408 inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines by inhibiting the activation of NF-κB and AP-1. PHA 408 also inhibits the production of inflammatory prostaglandins and nitric oxide (NO). This drug has been shown to be effective in vivo treatment for inflammatory bowel disease.
