Description

SMCC-DM1 is a small-molecule drug that targets the growth factor receptor HER2, which is overexpressed in some breast cancers. It is a cross-linking agent that binds to HER2 and prevents it from activating the cell's Ras protein, preventing cell proliferation. SMCC-DM1 has been used in clinical trials for the treatment of lymphocytic leukemia and other types of cancer. This drug can inhibit the growth of primary keratinocytes with the HER2 receptor, which may be due to its ability to bind to this receptor on the surface membrane glycoprotein. SMCC-DM1 has also been shown to block certain types of chronic lymphocytic leukemia cells by binding to a specific antibody that targets these cells.
