• Description: Calcium propionate is a calcium salt of propionic acid. It is used as a preservative in food and feed products to inhibit the growth of mold, yeast and bacteria. It inhibits microbial activity by reacting with the surface of the microorganism or by reacting with a reactive site on the molecule that occurs in an infected organism.
