Framycetin sulfate is an antimicrobial agent that belongs to the group of sulfonamides. It is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and acts by inhibiting microbial enzyme systems, such as glutamate dehydrogenase. Framycetin sulfate has been used in the treatment of subclinical mastitis, trichomoniasis, and other infectious diseases. Framycetin sulfate is also used as a pharmaceutical ingredient in medicines for metabolic disorders and other conditions.
