1-(1,2,3,4-Tetrahydroquinolin-1-yl)ethan-1-one is a hdac inhibitor that binds to the enzyme histone deacetylase (hdac). It has been used to study Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. This drug is an amide with a carbonyl group. It is also a biphenyl molecule that can be prepared by reacting phosphorus pentoxide with biphenyl. 1-(1,2,3,4-Tetrahydroquinolin-1-yl)ethan-1-one has shown inhibitory effects on metal hydroxides such as calcium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide. 1-(1,2,3,4-Tetrahydroquinolin-1-yl)ethan-1-one also inhibits the formation of hydrochloric acid from hydrogen chloride and sodium hydroxide.
