Description

2-Isopropyl-4-methylphenol is a phenolic compound that has been shown to have antioxidant properties. It has been shown to protect mammalian cells from oxidative stress and is also an antibacterial agent. 2-Isopropyl-4-methylphenol can be found in the genus Lippia, which contains volatile compounds with antioxidant effects. This molecule has been shown to cause phytotoxic effects at high concentrations, but it does not inhibit plant growth at lower concentrations. The isomers of this molecule are also present in Lippia graveolens, where they have different effects on plants. Carvacrol is another phenolic compound that has been shown to have antioxidant properties.
