Description :
Phenethyl p-toluenesulfonate is a tosylate that reacts with styrene to form phenylethyl and toluene sulfonic acids. Phenethyl p-toluenesulfonate is an activator of radical chain reactions, which are commonly used in organic synthesis. It has been shown to increase the rate of reaction by up to 30% in dimethylformamide and acetonitrile. Phenethyl p-toluenesulfonate also has the ability to activate radical chain reactions at lower temperatures than other activators, making it a useful reagent for chemical syntheses.
