Description :
1,3,6,8-Tetranitrocarbazole is a nitro compound that has been used as a high explosive in military and mining applications. It is also used as an intermediate for the synthesis of other explosives. The 1,3,6,8-tetranitrocarbazole molecule consists of four nitro groups bonded to a central carbon atom. This compound has been shown to be an agonist at the α2A adrenergic receptor and has been shown to have synchronous effects on calcium channels. It has also been shown to have specific binding sites in the brain. Tetranitrocarbazole is detectable using preparative high performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection at wavelength of 254 nm.
