Description

6-Methyl-2-phenyl-4,5-dihydropyridazin-3(2H)-one is a metabolite of acetoacetate and pyridazine. It has been shown to be a major metabolite of isopentenyl pyrophosphate in eubacteria. 6-Methyl-2-phenyl-4,5-dihydropyridazin-3(2H)-one is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of fatty acids and the methyl group is found as a substituent on many lipids. The conformation of 6MPPDZ can be rationalized by rotating the phenyl ring around the two bonds that are not shared with other atoms in order to minimize steric strain.
