Description

4-Isopropylcyclohexanol is a synthetic chemical that is used in the formulation of skin care products. It is a clear liquid with an oily consistency. 4-Isopropylcyclohexanol has been shown to have a potent hydrolytic activity, which can be attributed to its alcohol dehydrogenase activity. This hydrolysis reaction leads to the production of 4-isopropylcyclohexanone, which has significant bactericidal and fungicidal properties. The reaction time for this compound is 10 minutes at room temperature, although it can be increased by adding catalysts such as chloride or supercritical carbon dioxide. 4-Isopropylcyclohexanol also reacts with the skin's natural lipids and oils, forming a lipid film on the surface of the skin that protects it from dehydration and harmful environmental factors like UV radiation.
