Informations sur le produit
- 2,2-Dithiopropionic acid
- 2,2'-Disulfanediyldipropanoic Acid
2,2'-Dithiodipropionic acid is a disulfide with a two-fold oxidation state. It can be synthesized from 2,2'-dithiodipropionate by reacting it with hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide. This compound has been shown to have antioxidant properties in model organisms. 2,2'-Dithiodipropionic acid reacts with the hydroxyl group of malondialdehyde and aluminium to form a thioester intermediate. The nucleophilic attack of the thiolate anion on the carbonyl carbon atom leads to the formation of a new carbon-carbon bond and the regeneration of 2,2'-dithiodipropionic acid. This reaction is thermodynamically favorable because it is exothermic and leads to the formation of a more stable product (the thioester).
