- 2H-Pyran-2-one, tetrahydro-3,3-dimethyl-
3,3-Dimethyl-tetrahydro-pyran-2-one (MTHP) is a heterologous molecule that inhibits the activity of succinate dehydrogenase. It has been shown to be an effective fungicide against plant diseases caused by fungi such as Alternaria and Phytophthora. MTHP also has been used for the detection of antibodies in food samples and for the detection of specific antibodies in immunoassays. MTHP can be modified to increase its stability and extend its shelf life. These modifications are done by incorporating a hydrophobic group into the molecule's structure, which can be done through substitution, addition, or elimination reactions.
