Description :
6-Methoxy-3-methyl-1-benzofuran is a marker of benzene exposure and an adduct with malic acid. It is found in high concentrations in the urine of individuals exposed to benzene. 6-Methoxy-3-methyl-1-benzofuran can be used as a marker for monitoring benzene and dioxane exposure. The detection limit of this compound is 0.2 micrograms per liter, which can be determined by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry analyses.
