Description :
Undecylcyclohexane is a divalent hydrocarbon with a cyclohexane ring and a hydroxyl group. The hydroxyl group is reactive, which makes this compound susceptible to hydrogenation. Undecylcyclohexane has been shown to have anti-hepatitis properties and can be used as a drug for the treatment of hepatitis. This compound also contains fatty acids and carboxylic acid groups, which are important for its antiviral effects. Undecylcyclohexane has been found to be effective against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in vitro and in vivo, but not against other viruses such as herpes simplex type 1 (HSV-1). Magnetic resonance spectroscopy has shown that undecylcyclohexane binds strongly to the virus particle surface.
