Description

3α-Dihydrocadambine is a plant alkaloid that inhibits the biosynthesis of bacterial peroxidases, which are enzymes responsible for the production of hydrogen peroxide. 3α-Dihydrocadambine has been shown to be effective in treating infectious diseases such as typhoid fever and malaria, with an IC50 value of 9.8 μM. 3α-Dihydrocadambine also has hypotensive effects, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of nitric oxide and prostaglandin E2.
