4-Ethyl-phenyl)-hydrazine (4EPH) is a non-polar solvent that is used in the preparation of organic compounds. It has been shown to have photocatalytic activity and can be used to generate hydrogen peroxide under visible light, which may be useful for the treatment of cancer. 4EPH has been shown to activate the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway and increase levels of the antioxidant enzyme, dehydrogenase. This compound also has pro-inflammatory cytokine effects, such as inducing the production of glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase and protein s6, both involved in cellular proliferation. 4EPH has been shown to be an efficient method for inhibiting bafilomycin A1 in cells.
