Description :1-Hexadecyl-2-acetyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine is a zwitterion that is used as a drug to treat various diseases. It can be found in the form of two tautomers, namely hexadecyl and acyl groups. The acetyl group is an ester of phosphoric acid and ethanolamine. 1-Hexadecyl-2-acetyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine has been shown to have antihypertensive effects by inhibiting the uptake of sodium ions into erythrocytes and vascular smooth muscle cells. It also has antiarrhythmic effects by lowering the excitability of cardiac cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit calcium ion influx.
