2-(Quinolin-2-yl)ethanamine is a vasoconstrictor that acts by inhibiting the release of serotonin and 5-hydroxytryptamine, which are neurotransmitters that regulate blood pressure. It is used to treat carotid artery disease, but can also be used in the treatment of conditions such as peripheral vascular disease and Raynaud's phenomenon. 2-(Quinolin-2-yl)ethanamine has been shown to increase blood flow to the saphenous vein in patients with peripheral vascular disease. The drug is given intravenously in infusions, with a dose that varies depending on the condition being treated.
