• Description: N-Desmethyl imatinib mesylate is an active metabolite of Imatinib Mesylate, a drug used to treat metastatic colorectal cancer. The compound is an inhibitor of the tyrosine kinase activity of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and is taken orally. N-Desmethyl imatinib mesylate has been shown to be effective in women with metastatic colorectal cancer, producing a hematologic response in 67% of patients. This compound has also been found to have a longer half-life than Imatinib Mesylate and may be used as a substitute for this drug in women with metastatic colorectal cancer who are unable to take oral medications.
