Description

Beta-alanine, N-[[2-[[[4-(aminoiminomethyl)phenyl]amino]methyl]-1-methyl-1H-benzimidazol-5-yl]carbonyl]-N-2-pyridinyl-, ethyl ester is a thrombin inhibitor that acts by binding to the active site of thrombin. This molecule has been shown to inhibit the proteolytic activity of thrombin and can be used for the treatment of arterial thrombosis. Beta alanine has also been shown to have an affinity for heparin sulfate, which may be due to its structural similarity with heparin sulfate.
