3-Amino-6-bromopyridine is a viscosity modifier that is used in the formulation of polymeric matrix tablets and as an additive in cosmetic products. It has been shown to be effective against cancer and may have other therapeutic uses. 3-Amino-6-bromopyridine is reactive and can easily react with amines, such as dopamine, to form a covalent bond. This chemical can also react with hydrogen chloride to form a ring opening product. The chloride ion can also react with 3-amino-6-bromopyridine to form a polymeric matrix. 3-Amino-6-bromopyridine has been shown to be active against cancer cells in model studies, but it has not been tested on humans or animals yet.
