Description

2-Aminopropionitrile is an organic chemical that has a vibrational frequency range of 2.20 to 2.30 cm-1. It can be synthesized from methylamine and propionic acid and has been used as a chiral reagent for the synthesis of chiral amides. 2-Aminopropionitrile has been shown to have hydrolyzing activity against various esters, including acetylcholine esterase, which may contribute to its role in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. This compound also exists as two structural isomers, with one being more active than the other due to its ability to bind to different sites on the enzyme.
2-Aminopropionitrile has also been shown to produce a number of stereoisomers, with each isomer having different activities and effects on various enzymes.
