Description

2-Acetyl-5-methylpyridine is a ligand and anion that has been used as a linker in the synthesis of ruthenium complexes. The ligand binds to the metal center through its acetyl group, which is bound to the ruthenium atom through two nitrogen atoms. This complex can be used as a catalyst for dehydrogenation reactions. 2-Acetyl-5-methylpyridine binds to water molecules through their oxygen atoms, forming hydrogen bonds. It also has dicarboxylate and thiolate groups, which are important for binding to other molecules.
