4-Amino-2,3,5,6-tetrafluoropyridine (4AFTP) is a nucleophilic aromatic compound that has been used as a precursor to synthesize metal carbonyls. 4AFTP has also been used to synthesize anilines and other aromatic hydrocarbons. The monosodium salt of 4AFTP has fluorescence properties and can be used in the preparation of amines. 4AFTP is generally insoluble in water but will dissolve in polar solvents such as alcohols and acetone. 4AFTP forms stable complexes with naphthalene and perfluorinated compounds. 4AFTP reacts with protonated amines to produce hydrogen fluoride.
