5-Amino-4-cyano-3-methylthiophene-2-carboxamide is an organic compound that has been shown to be a very strong acceptor of light. The compound absorbs light and undergoes electron transfer from the excited electron to an electron in a higher energy level. It has also been shown to have the ability to absorb light at wavelengths of 400 nm, 430 nm and 450 nm. 5-Amino-4-cyano-3-methylthiophene-2 carboxamide can be used as a chromophore in organic solvents and is soluble in both water and organic solvents.
