- trans-4-Amino-1-Hydroadamantane Hydrochloride
Trans-4-aminoadamantan-1-ol hydrochloride is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of aminoadamantanes. It is a potent inhibitor of 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase, an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of 11β-hydroxysteroids to their corresponding 11-keto forms. Trans-4-aminoadamantan-1-ol hydrochloride has been shown to be effective in vivo against hyperglycemia, as it reduces blood sugar levels and increases insulin sensitivity in mice. This chemical is also effective for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity when used in combination with other drugs or therapies. The optimal dose for this drug is dependent on the severity of the condition being treated.
