Description

4-(2-Amino-2-methylpropyl)phenol is a colorless liquid that has a molecular weight of 169.17 g/mol. It is soluble in water, ethanol, and acetone. 4-(2-Amino-2-methylpropyl)phenol has been shown to inhibit uptake of amines by the brain and may be used as an analytical method for amines. The amino group on the molecule can be conjugated with other molecules such as sugars or carbohydrates. 4-(2-Amino-2-methylpropyl)phenol is metabolized into 2-(4'-hydroxyphenyl)-N,N-dimethylacetamide (HPDMA), which inhibits rotarod performance in mice by decreasing motor activity. 4-(2-Amino-2-methylpropyl)phenol may also have a matrix effect on urine samples, which means that it alters the composition of urinary proteins based on
