Afrormosin-7-glucoside is a polysaccharide that is extracted from the roots of pueraria lobata. It has been shown to have synergistic effects with cancer drugs, such as paclitaxel and 5-fluorouracil. Afrormosin-7-glucoside has also been shown to inhibit the growth of various types of cancer cells in vitro. The mechanism of its anti-cancer activity is not fully understood. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) analysis shows that afrormosin interacts with lipids in cell membranes, which may cause changes in their lipid composition and membrane fluidity. It also inhibits fatty acid synthesis, leading to an accumulation of lipids in the liver, which may cause metabolic disorders.
