2-Amino-5-methoxybenzamide is an aromatic compound that has been shown to induce apoptosis in human cancer cell lines. It is a directional, ring-opening reaction system that cleaves the carbon-nitrogen bond in 2-amino-5-methoxybenzamide and reacts with chloride ions to form reactive intermediates. This system was found to be effective against chlorides, as well as against myelogenous leukemia cells (K562) and colon cancer cells (HCT116). The mechanism of action of this compound is mediated by tumor cell line suppression.
