Description :
2-Amino-5-chlorobenzenesulfonic acid (ACBS) is a strong organic acid with a pK of 1.6. It is used in wastewater treatment to reduce the pH, and as an alternative to sulfuric acid for sample preparation and buffer exchange. ACBS has been found to interact with other molecules such as sulfonic acids, buffers, or water at high concentrations. This interaction has been shown to depend on the nature of both substances involved. 2-Amino-5-chlorobenzenesulfonic acid can be recovered from wastewater using liquid chromatography techniques.
