2-Amino-4-bromobenzothiazole (2ABB) is a pharmacological agent that blocks sodium channels. It is a structural analog of aminobenzothiazole, which is an analgesic and anesthetic drug. 2ABB has been shown to be effective in the treatment of chronic pain by blocking the activity of sodium channels in dorsal root ganglion neurons. This prevents the transmission of pain signals from sensory nerve endings to the central nervous system. 2ABB has a rapid onset, with effects appearing within 5 minutes after administration, and its effects last for up to 4 hours.
