1,3-Adamantanediolmonoacrylate is a monomer that belongs to the class of divalent hydrocarbons. It has been shown to be useful in the synthesis of polymers with developable properties. The polymerization process is initiated by a radical initiator and proceeds through a stepwise addition of monomers. 1,3-Adamantanediolmonoacrylate has been shown to have transport properties in blood samples, and can be used as an alternative for hydroxyl groups. This drug also reacts with radiation to form free radicals and can be used as an acid catalyst for other reactions such as the synthesis of fluoroalkyl esters. 1,3-Adamantanediolmonoacrylate may also induce insulin resistance due to its ability to bind with high affinity at the insulin receptor site on cells.
