Description

3-Aminomethyl-1-benzhydrylazetidine is an antiinflammatory peptide that is a derivative of the tripeptide, serine. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of proteases such as thrombin and other serine proteases. This inhibitory activity may be due to its ability to bind to the active site of these enzymes, blocking their catalytic function. 3-Aminomethyl-1-benzhydrylazetidine has also been shown to inhibit coagulation by binding to thrombin, which inhibits the conversion of fibrinogen into fibrin and decreases platelet aggregation. 3-Aminomethyl-1-benzhydrylazetidine can be used as a prophylactic agent against thrombosis or in the treatment of acute episodes of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism (PE).
