• Description: Almestrone is a biodegradable drug that binds to estrogen receptors. This drug has been shown to be effective in the treatment of breast cancer, where it acts by binding to estrogen receptors and selectively modulating them. Almestrone has also been used in diagnostic procedures as a radiolabelled agent for the detection of breast cancer. It can be administered orally or by iontophoresis. In iontophoresis, an electric field is applied to the skin to enhance the permeability of drugs into the body. Almestrone is administered as a diluent for other therapeutic agents such as neurotrophic factors.
