Description :Amcinonide is a synthetic corticosteroid that has been found to be biocompatible. It is used in pharmaceutical preparations as a replacement for betamethasone, which is a natural steroidal hormone. Amcinonide may be used in the treatment of alopecia areata, because it inhibits the release of fatty acids from adipose tissue and also reduces inflammation. This drug typically has little or no adverse effects on the liver or kidneys, but can induce fluid retention and increased potassium levels. Amcinonide’s anti-inflammatory effects are due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
