• Description: 2-Amino-4,6-dihydroxypyrimidine is a chemical compound that is used in the synthesis of pemetrexed. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in cell culture by cross-coupling with nitrogen atoms in DNA and thereby inhibiting replication. 2-Amino-4,6-dihydroxypyrimidine also reacts with halides to form reaction intermediates that are capable of reacting with hydrogen bonds and other functional groups.
