Description :
4-Azido-homoalanine is a synthetic molecule that has been used to study the function of metal ions in biological systems. The compound binds to iron and copper, which are essential for cellular physiology. 4-Azido-homoalanine has also been shown to inhibit the activity of receptors and enzymes involved in energy metabolism, such as mitochondrial ATPase and citrate synthase.
