3-Amino-6-methylpicolinic acid is a hydroxylated amino acid that is used as a reagent in organic synthesis. It can be synthesized by the reaction of copper salt and ethanol with hydroxyl group followed by halogenating and then reacting with sodium hydroxide to form the methyl ester. The residue of 3-amino-6-methylpicolinic acid can be obtained by treating it with copper, which oxidizes it to the corresponding hydroxide. This product has been shown to have an isotopic purity of 99%.
