Description

1-(2-Aminoethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole dihydrochloride monohydrate is a bifunctional compound that has antimicrobial and anticancer properties. It can be used as an anticancer drug in the treatment of tumors with high uptake. The uptake of this drug is higher in tumor tissues than in normal tissues, which may be due to the accumulation of aldehydes. 1-(2-Aminoethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole dihydrochloride monohydrate also has antibacterial activity and can be used as an antibacterial agent for the treatment of infectious diseases caused by bacteria. This drug chelates metal ions, such as copper and iron, which are essential for bacterial growth.
