3-Amino-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine is a molecule that is formed by the condensation of two amino acids. 3-Amino-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine has been found to have pharmacokinetic properties that are similar to benzodiazepines and can be used as an alternative to these drugs in patients who are intolerant or allergic to them. This drug also has antiviral activity against HIV, which may be due to its ability to inhibit reverse transcriptase and protease enzymes. 3-Amino-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine has also shown antibacterial activity against some Gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes.
